Acne Spot Treatment
An Ayurvedic ointment that dries an active spot overnight.
Derived from Ayurveda, the ointment consistency of this formula works as a protective barrier — sealing bacteria and germs out while sealing in the medicinal properties of the herbs, which dry the spot out without affecting the surrounding skin.
The main active is shuddha gandhak, purified sulphur. Water from hot sulphur springs has been used in India for ages to treat all kinds of skin ailments; some of those springs are considered holy and are said to cure skin disease in a single dip. The gandhak in the water is what is doing that. It is one of the most abundant minerals in the body and plays a part in collagen production.
Alongside it, suhaga, yashad bhasma, loban, pudina sattva, neem and multani mitti each work on a different part of the problem — infection, sebum, inflammation and the marks left behind.
A note: some people find the smell strong. It fades in about ten minutes.

What it does
- Shuddha gandhak dries the spot without touching surrounding skin
- Ointment base seals bacteria out while the herbs work
- Yashad bhasma and multani mitti help the mark fade afterwards
Who it’s for
Works for
- Individual active spots, not all-over acne
- Oily and acne-prone skin
- Overnight use
- Whiteheads and inflamed pimples
What it feels & smells like
- Smell
- Strong and sulphurous. Genuinely not pleasant. It fades in about ten minutes, and it is the gandhak doing the work.
- Texture
- A thick, opaque ointment. It sits on top of the skin rather than absorbing.
- Sensation
- Slight cooling from the menthol, then nothing. You will see it on your face, so most people use it at night.
How to use it
What to expect
- Night 1You will feel a cooling tingle for a few minutes, and smell the sulphur. The spot looks flatter by morning.
- Week 1Active spots dry out and flatten within two or three nights each. Marks will not have faded yet.
- Week 3Whiteheads come to a head and clear faster. You are treating fewer spots than you were.
- Week 6Post-acne marks start fading from the yashad bhasma and multani mitti. This part is slow and always is.
